Welcome to Miss Lindsey's Social Studies Class

Welcome back!

Dear Student:

It’s time to turn over a new leaf! My name is Miss Lindsey and I will be teaching you 7th grade Social Studies for the 2010-2011 school year at the Franklin Academy. I hope your summer track out was fun and restful; and you are excited to return back to school for a fantastic and engaging year. While we will be spending a lot of time working and learning together these next two semesters; I wanted to introduce myself and give you a little information about me.

I grew up in a very small town in New Kent, VA.  I have always loved learning about new things, and wanted to be a teacher ever since I was a little girl.  I was able to achieve this goal when I graduated from the College of William and Mary (Go Tribe!) with a degree in education and theatre.  I started my teaching career back in my hometown of New Kent where I taught sixth and seventh grade math, language arts, and social studies for four years. In 2007, I moved to Raleigh, NC; and I taught language arts and social studies for one more year at Moore Square Museums Magnet Middle School before returning to college for my master’s degree at NC State (Go Wolfpack!).  I greatly missed being out of the classroom, however, and was thrilled to get the opportunity to teach at Franklin Academy.  While my first two years at Franklin Academy were terrific; I am equally excited to teach a new batch of seventh graders!  I am confident we will have a very happy, productive and successful academic year; and you will leave the 7th grade with a better appreciation for my all-time favorite subject—social studies!

Some of my hobbies include hanging out with my friends and family, traveling, singing, dancing, playing with my dog (she is so adorable), watching movies, shopping, and reading.  My favorite food is anything Italian and I love relaxing at the beach during the summer and skiing down the slopes in the winter.

I know you probably have lots of interesting stories and experiences to share with me as well, and I’m really looking forward to working with you.  I expect you will be very successful with your academic and social achievements; and I believe our class will be full of exciting and meaningful moments together!   Here’s to a great year together! Smile

Sincerely,

Miss Lindsey
